I take Rizatriptan for a migraine but bog standard paracetamol works for a normal headache. Migraines are anything but a ‘normal’ headache and no painkillers ever touch those.
I couldn’t take Sumatriptan due to heart palpitations so swapped to Rizatriptan. There are very strict rules around not taking more than 2 in a 48 hour period though, due to the nature of the ‘triptan’ drugs. They’re exceptionally strong and mess with your brain so taking them for a ‘normal’ headache may not be a good idea.
It is turning into a fascinating World Cup (France/Denmark aside). There is a quarter of the draw that now contains France, Uruguay, Portugal and Argentina!
As for Maradonna – an utter embarrassment. I think the BBC will be a little more circumspect about using his images during the games now, after having to cut away last night during the idiot’s one-fingered salutes.
Annoying distraction for the next month. Not even the pinnacle of world football in terms of entertainment and skill levels, the Champions league knock-out games are much better.
France to win, or maybe Germany or Brazil. England will be better than previous and will comfortably get to the quarters when a proper team will knock them out.
I was in a similar position and discovered that I could pay for an MRI at the local university, it wasn’t as much as I thought it would be (£300 ish). I too had a prolapsed disc and I’ve been doing physio led pilates for about 18 months that has helped enormously. Be careful about who you go to for pilates – there are pilates classes… and there are pilates classes. I would only ever go to a physio led one in your position.
I had this exactly as you described, turned out to be my sacrum and not my coccyx.
This physio gave me a number of stretches and this one helped immensely:

It’s unlikely your gp will do anything for any kind of back pain other than pain meds so if you can afford it I can’t recommend enough seeing a physio/ sports injury clinic.
Crutches cost around £10 to purchase. The charge to collect and decontaminate crutches to the required infecting control standards cost in the region of £20.
@nicola That’s ridiculous. I’m a microbiologist so know and a little about killing bugs and we could effectively decontaminate stuff like crutches for pennies. They are designed to be easily cleaned and would need little more than a good wipe down with something like distel, trigene, or Virkon. And if you were feeling really keen you. Could probably just chuck them in the autoclave. And anyway, we’re not talking about surgical instruments and the hands of the person handing the crutches to the patient are far more likely to be the contamination source than the crutches themselves.
I agree the women’s soccer has been a lot more exciting! But that being said the mens game tonight Brazil vs Germany will be really exciting to watch.. will the Germans be super mean to Brazil yet again and thrash them? I think to many in Brazil this game will be the most important event in the entire Olympics… if they win it will make the game worth while for them but if Brazil looses yet again to Germany expect riots on the street of Brazil I know it sounds daft but I think that a loss will push Brazilians to the brink as a lot of Brazilians already think that the Olympics is just a big waste of money especially seeing as Brazil is going through a massive recession so if Brazil doesn’t really have anything to show for the game and all that money spent there will be a lot of anger that will bubble over!
What a great final!
It really is just Sweden’s luck to concede an own goal in the final when they have been playing so good defensively (even if extremely boring) through the whole tournament. Maybe they should have just stuck to boring defense and not take any risks at all ever next time.
Some professions have minimal physical criteria that some women can meet. If she can meet the minimum physical criteria she can do the job. It is not discriminatory to set those criteria at a required level that only a very exceptional woman could ever meet… if that is what is required for the job. Even if the levels were set at a standrad that no woman could ever reach there would still be some men who could! In some sports women can and do out-perform men too. It does not follow that men and women should therefore compete together in all sports, men continue to have a marked biological advantage in strength and speed no matter how good the best women can make themselves.
