WPS to Host 2012 Draft in Kansas City
Fourth Annual WPS Draft to be Held in Conjunction with the NSCAA Convention.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (December 21, 2011) – Women’s Professional Soccer officially announced today that the League’s 2012 Draft has been scheduled at 1pm CT on Friday, January 13. The draft will again be held during the 2012 NSCAA Convention which will take place in Kansas City, MO.
Previous installments of the League’s annual draft have brought rising talent to WPS including No. 1 selections Amy Rodriguez in 2009, Tobin Heath in 2010, and Alex Morgan in 2011.
WPS fans around the country will once again have the opportunity to follow their favorite team’s selections via a live league webcast from inside the draft room on www.WomensProSoccer.com. Experienced Soccer Broadcasters Dean Linke and Kyndra de St. Aubin have been selected to host the WPS Draft webcast, and will be on hand to provide in-depth coverage, expert analysis, interviews and more, all live from the draft room.
Dean LinkeA familiar face and voice to WPS fans, Dean Linke has regularly filled in as the play-by-play announcer on FOX Soccer’s WPS Sunday Game of the Week throughout the League’s first three seasons. In addition to WPS, Linke lends his broadcasting and soccer expertise as the voice of the NSCAA Men’s and Women’s College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer and the Big Ten Network. Linke has also called Major League Soccer as well as ACC lacrosse and basketball games.Kyndra de St. Aubin
Kyndra de St. Aubin, a former collegiate soccer standout at the University of Minnesota, helped open the 2011 WPS Season on FOX Soccer and is both a sports reporter and producer for Arizona’s KTAR sports radio station based in Phoenix. She has extensive experience with women’s soccer, lending her expertise to US Women’s National Team matches, NSCAA collegiate women’s soccer game of the week on FOX Soccer, as well serving as a commentator for the complete women’s soccer package on the Big Ten Network.
The WPS draft room at the Kansas City Convention Center will be open to league officials, teams, media and credentialed guests of WPS. The public will be able to catch all the action and additional exclusive content on the web.
