Events that recognize the present and future of women's soccer are set to unfold on May 15, when the 2nd Annual Women's Soccer Celebration Summit takes the stage at Dick's Sporting Goods Park near Denver, Colo. Double-header action will feature the reigning W-League champion Washington Freedom against the Fort Collins Force followed by MLS rivals Real Salt Lake squaring off against the Colorado Rapids. Fans will also have the opportunity to train and visit with world-class players including Olympic Gold Medalist Abby Wambach.

The first-of-its-kind Summit will include a 90-minute invitation-only forum to discuss the future of the women’s game. Wambach and league executives will then be available for a half-hour press conference open to the media and the public. Force owner Amy Snider will serve as moderator for both the luncheon and the press conference. In addition to Wambach, Summit participants include Tonya Antonucci, commissioner of the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS), W-League Director Melanie Fitzgerald, President of the W-League Hampton Roads Piranhas Marcie Laumann, and Jerry Zanelli of the Women’s Premier Soccer League. Colorado Rapids Managing Director Jeff Plush will emcee.
