Red stars vs Boston Breakers 4-1

Luck is not on the Boston Breakers side this season as the Red Stars beat them 4-1 on Sunday. The first goal of the game came in just 20 minutes as DiBernardo played a corner into the box which was tapped away by the Boston Breakers goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher but just three minutes after this close call a Second corner kick which bounced off the heads of the heads of the Red star players right to where Wenino was who managed to pass it into the net.
It was in the 35 minutes of the match that Boston Breakers got back into the swing of things and from a penalty kick from a handball made by Samantha Johnson who was trying to block the ball Lianne Sanderson was trying to cross… This penalty kick made by Heather O’Reilly would see Boston level out the score board.

Both team were looking strong and either team could have snatched the lead again in the last couple minutes of the first half but both teams couldn’t get the ball in the net.

It was evident that the Red stars in the second half of the game were the strongest team and dominated play. 50 minutes into the game Leon passed the ball to Loy who managed to dribble the ball close enough to the goal to make a shot which landed in the bottom right hand corner of the net.
then only 7 minutes later Hoy manages to snatch the ball of Boston Breakers Cat Whitehill passing it over to Dibernardo who slipped it into Chalupny who managed to quickly passes it into the back of the net. This made the score 3-1.

It was now the 85th minute of the game another goal would surely put the last nail int he coffin for the Breakers and that’s what the Red stars did. Bywaters collected the ball off a bad corner kick as Alyssa Mautz cleared it to Bywaters who was then able to run up field with the ball, dribbling past Naeher and placing the ball in the back of the net as most of the Boston Breakers team watched helplessly behind her.
Boston tried there best and went on the offensive putting more players upfront but it wasn’t enough.

The red stars next game will be against Houston Dash on 23rd of May and then they will be taking on New jersey on 28th of May.

Sky Blue beat Boston Breakers 1-0

Sky blue break Boston Breakers 1-0 last Saturday. It was a home game at the Yurcak Field Stadium for the Sky blue side with a turn out of fans that was around 1300! The only goal was made 14 minutes into the game from Monica Ocampo thanks to a pass made by Kelly O’hara.

Jim Gabarra who is head coach for Sky Blue put the win down to a “new attitude” of play he also said that Sky Blue have been getting used to the league and now they are finally ready, playing as though they had to win at all costs no matter what.

Sky blue managed to hold of Boston Breakers from scoring. Overall Sky blue had a strong defense in this game, in the second half Sky blue even went on the offensive creating chances to score again

Currently Sky blue have 5 points in total this season and are 5th in the league whilst Boston Breakers really are not doing so good with 3 loses and only 1 win this season means that they are 8th in the league.

Sky blue will be going up against Chicago Red Stars in their next game which also will be at the Yurcak Field Stadium, lets hope that they can keep up this new found strategy of play they now have.

Boston beat Harvard

Harvard are no match for the Breakers!

Boston Breakers are just seeming to be getting better and better as things start to close in till the start of the nwsl season. On Wednesday the breakers were up against Harvard and won 4-1 with four different goalscorers! Who scored then? well… Katie Schoepfer, Joanna Lohman, Mollie Pathman and Cat Whitehill all got a goal in the match!
#Tom drukin who coaches the Breakers said that he wanted to see what the younger rookie players could do in the first half of the game and then in the second half the more experienced players could come out and destroy Harvard.

It didn’t start out to good for the breakers at first as they made a few silly mistakes which in the end let in a goal as Jami Kranich who once was in the college academy team for the Breakers managed to bring the score to Harvard’s favor … It would take to the 45 th minute for the Breakers to even out the score board with Pathman’s fine goal played to her by wood. Pathman played the entire game and kept up good pace and really proved herself as a key player in the breakers team.

The second breakers goal was in the 47th minute of the match by Whitehill which was done through fast reactions on a loose ball in the penalty area.

Joanna Lohman grabbed her first preseason goal on Wednesday when it came to the 57th minute helped created by a cross in made by Pathman… then all most straight away on the 60th minute of the match the 4th and final goal was put in by Schoepfer putting the final nail int he coffin for Harvard.

Another win for a NWSL team is just showing how much talent is in this seasons teams and how much better the players are compared to college players… some may just call these games just a tiny bit unfair and pointless because we always know who is going to win.. the pros of course!

Boston Breakers new striker Lisa De Vanna

Boston Breakers have a new player that they have traded with Sky Blue fc in return for a 2014 international roster spot and also first pickings in the 2015 College draft in the NWSL it has been announced.

Lee Billiard who is the General manager for the Boston Breakers reckons it was a good trade and is very excited as he reckons that Lisa will bring a lot to the table and hopefully with score lots of goals for the team.. that’s what it is all about really!

With lots of talent Lisa De Vanna has really took to the spotlight and proved how good she is as a striker for the Sky Blue fc last season by scoring five goals and plenty of assists in the 16 games she played in for the New Jersey team.

She is a very busy player… she has been playing for Melbourne in Australian league Westfield W-League and has managed to really help that team out and win the grand final for the team by scoring winning goal of a 2-0 final against Brisbane in the 39th minute of the match. She also helped Melbourne get to the final as she collected goal after gaol in the competition 8 in total over 14 games!

De vanna has played in different leagues and teams across the United states, such as playing 3 years in the WPS and in only three season she managed to get 12 goals in the bag… playing for the Washington freedoms and magicjack sides….so she know us women’s soccer alright!

She has even been to Sweden to play for Linköpings FC were she played 22 games and managed to score 7 goals in them which is quite impressive.

De vanna also plays for the Australian international team and has a whopping 75 caps for them since she joined the team back in 2004 and has netted up to 32 goals for the Australian team.
In 2007 she was also up for nomination for the FIFA world player of the year so it goes without saying that Boston breakers really have got themselves a good players and a bargain.. what where Sky Blue fc thinking letting this talented player go especially to one of their main rivals?
